Running for a Clearer Future: Support My Berlin Marathon for Visual Snow Initiative
Dear Friends and Supporters,
This September, I will be running the Berlin Marathon to raise awareness and funds for the Visual Snow Initiative.
What is Visual Snow Syndrome?
Visual Snow Syndrome (VSS) is a neurological condition characterized by a constant flickering of tiny dots, much like the static on a television screen. This covers the entire visual field, also when the eyes are closed. Additional symptoms typically include sudden flashes of light, confusion, visual distortions, double vision, dizziness, photophobia, depersonalization, and derealization. For those affected, this can be incredibly debilitating and isolating.

If you are curious about what Visual Snow Syndrome is like, I recommend checking out my simulator. It is a good starting point for people with Visual Snow Syndrome to share their experience with friends and family.
Why This Matters
Visual Snow Syndrome remains poorly understood and barely researched. Misdiagnoses, baffled doctors, and a general lack of information create confusion and isolation. The nature of the condition also means that, even with a knowledge of Visual Snow Syndrome, sufferers often have no one to relate to and a limited means of conveying it to their loved ones.
Yet these obstacles are distinctly conquerable.
More research and funding are needed. First and foremost to be able to accurately diagnose people and raise public awareness. Even without a cure, this would represent a significant improvement. Secondly, to uncover the causes of Visual Snow and develop effective treatments. The Visual Snow Initiative is at the forefront of this effort, working to fund new research and provide support for those affected.
How You Can Help
By supporting my marathon run, you are directly contributing to the advancement of research into Visual Snow Syndrome. Every donation, no matter how small, brings us one step closer to learning more about this condition and finding ways to raise awareness and alleviate the suffering of those affected.
